Wheatley Alternative Education Center

As part of Temple ISD’s $164.8 million 2022 bond program, Cen-Tex Engineering was selected to provide MEP engineering services in collaboration with MRB Group for critical upgrades to the Wheatley Alternative Education Center. Focused on improving safety, accessibility, and functionality, the project represents a strategic investment in creating a more inclusive and secure learning environment for students and staff.
Our scope of work included mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system designs to support a range of renovations, including:
- Restroom Upgrades: Redesigned plumbing and layout modifications to meet ADA compliance, ensuring accessibility for all users.
- Lighting Improvements: Modern, energy-efficient lighting systems were implemented throughout the facility to enhance visibility and reduce operational costs.
- Security Vestibule: MEP support for a new secure entry vestibule, designed to improve campus safety and visitor management.
- New Office Space: Full MEP services for the construction of new administrative office areas, including HVAC zoning, power distribution, lighting, and data/communications infrastructure.
Our team worked closely with district officials and project partners to ensure that all system upgrades met the district’s performance goals, energy standards, and scheduling requirements.
This project is part of a broader effort to elevate the quality and safety of Temple ISD facilities, and we’re proud to contribute to a future-ready educational environment.
